You just bought yourself a new hard drive, now that you have it you may want to split it up into different parts. Maybe you want one part to be for backing up you computer and another just for general use.

Well you can essentially split up your hard drive into lots of different pieces referred to as partitions. Each of these partitions appears as a completely different hard drive that you can do whatever you want to.

In this video I will show you how to partition your hard drive.

  1. I have a 1 T Seagate backup drive for a Mackbook Pro and have bought an MB air. Would like to use drive to backup both when I plug it into either. How do I do this? Don't know how to partition so it will backup either when plugged in. Thanks

  2. Surely the older disk utility has so much to offer. Really miss it. But thanks to Stellar Partition Manager, which is a fine alternative to the Disk Utility, I am able to partition, resize and erase the Mac hard drive.
