How to Make a Bootable macOS Sierra USB Flash Drive For iMac | MacBook | Mac Air | Mac Mini

Use the following command in Terminal:

macOS Sierra Command #1:
/Applications/Install macOS Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia

macOS Sierra Command #2:
sudo /Applications/Install macOS Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/MyVolume –applicationpath /Applications/Install macOS Sierra.app

  1. I've tried this method word for word exactly as you said, but I get this error every time.

    Copy complete.
    Making disk bootable…
    Couldn't mount dmg /Volumes/Install macOS Sierra/Install macOS Sierra.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg (error code 112)Mount of outer dmg failed.
    Done.

    I've tried deleting the installer and restarting my computer, then redownloading it from the App Store, as well as reformatting USB drive. My USB drive has 64GB and I have erased the contents before attempting this, but every time it has failed. I also tried using Diskmaker X but also to no avail.

    Anyone know what could be going wrong? Could it be that this USB drive just is not compatible?

  3. I did everything and this is what I'm getting when I try to install " macOS could not be installed on your computer " " volume contains a macOS or OS X installation which may be damaged."

  4. Hi can you please help me after creating a bootable flash drive as shown in your video,if I restart by pressing option key it's only showing Macintosh HD the USB it's no listed. What could be wrong?

  5. Hi, after creating the bootable USB on my macbook 12 I tried to install it on my older iMac – holding option key while restarting and then when I open the USB bootable drive Im getting a gray screen with a circle crossed by diagonal line (I tried this process 2 times).
    any suggestions ?
